In a university wide email, President Padilla announced that Eric Johnson, current Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs would take on the position of provost on May 11.

Johnson is a Valparaiso graduate from the class of ‘87. He has served the university in several roles, beginning in 1997 as a faculty member, directing the Reutlingen, Germany study abroad center, chairing the electrical and computer engineering department, serving as project director for expanding the online graduate program, and became the dean of the College of Engineering in 2013.

Throughout his years of service, Provost Johnson has embodied Valpo’s values and will work alongside President Padilla to plan for the future of the university. As Provost, Johnson will serve as the overhead for academic and international programming, campus ministries and overall student experience.

This is a developing story. The Torch will update this story as more information becomes available.
