“Hey Ashley! I’ve been having trouble keeping my room clean and organized especially when I’m so busy! Please help with any tips you have on keeping a room clean!”

 

Hi there, you’re not alone. Amongst the stress of running from class to student organization meetings, keeping your room clean is probably at the bottom of the to-do list. However, hopefully I can offer you some useful tips because it’s definitely nice to come back to a clean room after a long, stressful day. 

 

My first piece of advice, which I think is the most helpful, is to make your bed right after you get up. Making your bed right after you get up is smart because not only does it make your room look more put together, but it helps you get the day started. 

 

If you make your bed right after you get up, ideally you would be less likely to go back to sleep since you wouldn’t want to undo and make your bed again.

 

Now, if your room is already pretty neat but you just have clutter around your room, get extra storage containers or drawers. Now, you might be thinking you don’t have room for extra storage because you barely have room for what you have now, however, putting it under your bed is a great hack. 

 

Target and Ikea have great plastic drawer sets that you can put your extra school supplies, clothes, food, and everything else that doesn’t have a designated spot in your room. 

 

Another tip to keeping your room clean while running back and forth from class, is to clean up any mess you make right away. Don’t push off cleaning your room to the weekend when everything will just pile up. Clean up a little bit along the way so eventually your room will just always be organized and tidy. 

 

You also never know when your friends may stop by, another reason to keep your space put together so it is more inviting to guests.

 

Lastly, I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard the saying a clean rooms makes for a clear mind plenty of times. However, it could be different for each person. With that, try and see if keeping your room clean and tidy keeps your mind less cluttered as well. Apparently, having your room unorganized is one more thing you think about, potentially meaning if your room was clean it would be one less thing you think and worry about. 

 

I hope you can take one of these tips and apply it to your situation. Just think about how nice it would be to come back to a clean room at the end of a busy day and being relieved that you don’t have to clean. Sounds good, right?
